Apple TV 1st gen not working

Hi Guy's,

I have recently brought an apple tv 1st gen that was being sold as spares or repair..

Anyway, I plugged it in and got the yellow light flashing.. I looked on the internet and found it to be the hard drive faulty (not spinning).. I have replaced the hard drive and ran through putting the OS on it.. Anyway, I now switch it on and still get the yellow flashing light...

Has anyone got any ideas on what could be wrong?

Blinking yellow means starting up. Does it flash any other colors or flash just once or more?

Can someone please tell me if the apple logo shows up with no hard drive connected?? the reason I ask this is that when the box light is blinking, if I unplug the hard drive and then plug it back in, the yellow light shows longer (like it's trying to read the hard drive).. Thanks in advance
