Problem with AirPlay and Remote App with my two Apple TV's

I recently bought a second ATV. I have them labeled as Bedroom ATV and Living Room ATV. When I use the remote app on my iPad 2 or iPhone 4s it doesn't connect well. Sometimes when I hit AirPlay drop down the bedroom shows as Bedroom Apple TV (3)???* I often have to unplug the ATV to get it to be recognized in the Remote App. All devices have the most current firmware and are on the same network in my home. Is there anything I can do to make this work more consistently? It's a pain to constantly unplug the ATV to use the remote app or to get AirPlay to connect.
