GOing to try it tonight when I get home. I would guess it does but never saw info on it.

I did it, can't SSH into it though, curious of trying a different method.

Hearing that it is not supported with this release.

I wonder what the point is then? Haha

Apple TV gets stuck on connect to itunes screen after jailbreak. Had to restore, will wait a little longer for an update....

It gets worse than that. Not only does gp rc5 put it into a restore loop, but now I can't rejailbreak with seas0npass. When I'm not getting iTunes errors 1600, 1602, and whatnot, the tethered boot results in one of three scenarios:
1) Everything looks fine, but the Apple remote does nothing
2) Everything looks fine, the remote works, but wifi is disabled
3) Black screen output, but with sound, remote, and menu access.
My aTV is once again a youtube & netflix player with airtunes output.

Bummer. Try jail breaking with Pwnage. I never had much luck with Seas0nPass. Seas0nPass would work, but then I would have problems installing things after which is discussed on their forums as a known bug. Pwnage is a little more labor intensive, but I had no problems with it.

Apparently Greenpois0n RC6 is going to have support for Apple Tv G2. Its going to include NitoTv when it comes out, and apparently they are working on it now.

Does the latest version (RC5 Beta 4) work for AppleTV? The post about Verizon JB says this version works with Verizon iPhone and all devices on 4.2.1. Has anyone tried this on ATV?

Which micro USB cable will I need to jailbreak atv 2? Does it matter? I know there are a few different cables. Some with 4 pin, 5 pin and more.

I used a Motorola SKN6238A cellular data cable to USB in order to JB mine. Hope this helps.

02-13-2011, 04:53 PM #16Help pls!!!
Hey guys, a little help would be appreciated as my Apple TV2 just doesn't boot anymore. I updated the jailbreak with RC6, everything worked and then I installed a couple of packages from Cydia. One of them was the live weather. It wasn't working as i wished so I uninstalled it over ssh. After restarting lowtide from NitoTV settings all the background of the UI remained black and no icons would appear except the text of the menus. Tried to restore it with Seasonpass but iTunes got stucked for over 30 minutes a mm before the restore bar in iTunes finished the end. I forced quit after some time and now I can't restore in iTunes and the Apple TV isn't working! Any idea or I have the first bricked Apple TV2???

I had my mirco usb from my WD passport hard drive and it was hit and miss with it.
Had a micro usb cable from wifes blackberry and that worked a charm.

Hey, I tried to JB my ATV and found a very useful article to do it...Additionally I had to perform some steps for the DFU mode thingy...Check that below:
First of all follow the steps and video mentioned in this article:
Untethered Jailbreak Apple TV 2G 4.2.1 using Greenpois0n RC6 | iWS
In case, you are still unable to enter the DFU mode, follow these steps:
1. plug in usb and power.
2. open GP.
3. hold menu + down until light blinks rapidly.
4. IMMEDIATELY stop pressing menu + down and start pushing menu + play until light blinks rapidly.
5. let go of buttons, and GP started into jailbreak on its own.
Hope it would help the readers!!!

Still can't get Greenpois0n RC 6 to work. I go thru all of the instructions and it looks like it works. When i click quit, I wait a couple of minutes before I disconnect from the laptop.
When I hook it back up to my TV, however, nothing has changed. The Menu items are just the same.
Anything else I can try?
