About a week ago I wanted to watch a movie I had converted, but my AppleTV wouldn't show any content on my HD TV. So, I thought of watching a DVD using my Xbox 360, but to my surprise I got the 3 rings of death! That was my lucky night, really.
Next day I brought my AppleTV to the local AppleStore. A couple of days later they told me it was unfixable. Great, only lasted 3 years. It was always running really hot, I guess it had a nervous meltdown.
So, since I lost my AppleTV and my Xbox360, which played games and DVDs, I did some research. I went and bought myself a PS3 slim from Sony, since it can play Blue Ray DVDs and regular DVDs, and online gaming is free of charge, unlike the Xbox 360 from Microsoft! After a couple of days playing around with it and getting to know the PS3 and finding a software called MediaLink to stream photos, TV shows, movies and podcast from my MacPro and iMac, I realized I've become a PS3 fanatic. This little console is the bomb! It's quiet, it uses less electricity than the Xbox 360, you don't have to use rechargeable batteries for the remote, since you can recharge via USB cable to a built in battery in no time, online gaming is free, fully capable web browser on my 47" HD TV, Blue Ray DVD playback, and numerous configuration tools for video and sound to fine tune for the best possible picture, oh and you're not confined to 720P (1280x 720) like on the AppleTV! I can convert and watch movies in Full HD, 1080p!
Need I say more?
AppleTV and Xbox 360 were cool for the time being, but in my eyes the PS3 rules them all.
