Find my iPhone for 3GS

Have read up on how to get find my iPhone to work on 3GS. However, have 2 questions.

1, will it work on 4.1?

2, is someone with and iPhone 4 willing to activate it for me if I pm them my apple id? ( of course I'll change the password after!!!)

I believe a little while back there was an article showing how to get it working on 4.1 and on a 3gs ill see if i can find and post a link.
