Please help me.
I bought an iphone 3g locked to O2 network in UK with version 3.1.2(7D11), serial number 8790VY7H, model MB489B, modem Firmware 05.14.02. I thought it can be jailbroken with blackra1n and i tried as well and install Cydia. After that i input any sim, it shows no service. I thought it was not unlocked and went to service center where they said it can't be unlocked. Someone please help me to unlock it. What if i upgrade to version 4.1 or restore the iphone to factory setting?

5.1.4.02 can not be unlocked at the moment. We might get lucky with an unlock after 4.2 is release. Obviously, the prior owner updated the phone to 4.x using iTunes stock method which updated the baseband before downgrading it back to 3.1.2. Sorry, but you're stuck. Basebands (with very few exceptions, ie: Fuzzyband) can not be downgraded.

Check with f0recast or fuzzyband if you have bootloader 5.08 (I think f0recast reports 5.8, same thing I guess). If you don't have that (like you have 6.02) then you can't downgrade the baseband. If you have 5.8 you can.

I have baseband 05.14.02 with 4.1 8B117 on my iPhone 3G and carrier was unlocked. is working , cydia is instaled
first time I made a mistake and I upgraded my 3G with iTunes and offcourse automatically baseband has been upgraded. I tried with Ultrasn0w but he blocked my carrier.
second time I restored with itunes (shift+restore) an custom firmware ( iPhone1,2_4.1_8B117_Restore.ipsw).
with redsn0w_win_0.9.6b1 I installed the cydia.
P.S. i had tried with limera1n , but not work he show me ..dfu...wait...
