Default Any way to NOT update an app?

So MemoryInfo was made available again on the App Store today and is now absolutely useless as it no longer will free memory. It has an update which removes all its functionality. Any way I can refuse this update without having the annoying little badge in the corner of my App Store for all eternity?

SSH to the app and delete the iTunesMetadata.plist.

You could always delete the app and install a "special" version from "somewhere". App Store doesn't see "special" apps for updates.

I did this with NewsRack once. The update more or less broke the app so I noted the version #, installed an older version obtained though certain means, and checked periodically for an update.

Once the App Store had an update, I deleted the "special" version and re-installed my normal one through the App Store.

Hopefullly that was generalized enough for the mods :-\
