Application folder names for 3rd party apps
Applications obtained from the App store are located in
/private/var/mobile/Applications
The folders there have cryptic names for each app. looks like a long serial number.
Any idea if there is a cross list anywhere between the app name and it's folder in the path mentioned above or if there is any other way to know which folder belongs to which app?

You click on the folder name one of the subfolders will be a folder with the application name.
Other than that, no. They are different every time you install the app.

Problem is that I have many apps installed (12 pages worth) and if I want to find a specific app, it would take a lot of snooping around to find the correct folder.
I notice that when browsing the Applications folder with iFile app, it can "translate" the cryptic folder name to the app that resides in that folder, any idea how it does this?

More than likely it just looks at the child folder for the name. There is no way to look at the numbers and letters in name of the folder and know which app it is because the numbers are almost never the same.

Join the club... I have had to search alot myself.
And like Kariodude said, iFile must just be looking in the subfolder because I have bookmarked a folder for an application before, had to re-install that app and the folder name had changed, ie. the bookmark didn't work anymore.

I'm almost certain that iFile does this via cross referencing some database, but, I'll just use the following "trick" I found for now:
http://www.mobilitysite.com/boards/a...es-iphone.html
This way I can get the editor to do the searching for me.
Thanks guys.
