TomTom for 3G - Compass?

Has anyone had the chance to test out TomTom on a good old 3G?

All the reviews say it works for 3G but there aren't any specific details on how.

The 3G doesn't have a compass, so maybe they're referring to buying that mount.

Anyways if anyone knows can you tell me your experiences with TomTom?

I just tested it with my 3GS. I don't think the compass is used to determine whehter you should drive ahead or make a U-turn first.

Not in this version. Let's hope that it comes in future version.

it doesn't work with the compass yet.

It kind of works how the stock maps app works. it lays out the route you should take, then you follow it, it has no idea what direction the phone is pointed.
