I just found one called Magnetism which basically gives you a reading of nearby magnetic fields using the new compass. It's kind of cool, if mostly useless, and can act as a gonzo metal detector. Try it near a magnet (earbuds will do) and see

I just discovered a site that works as a platform for iPhone app developers and entrepreneurs. The developers can take assistance from the site to get iPhone App Projects and Entrepreneurs find iPhone app Developers. So if there are more initials like this in the market, then I don't think we won't have to wait long.

To those still wondering about how games handles in a 3G vs the 3GS, Firmint has released a video of a tech demo of Real Racing.
In the 3G, the game has 6 cars in a race to get good FPS.
In the 3Gs, the increased the cars to FOURTY and it runs BETTER than the 3G.

Just saw one that came out on the 4th called metal detector.
Metal Detector (iPhone 3G S)
Convert your iPhone 3G S into a Metal Detector*!
Many metals contain oxides (like magnetite or lodestone) which can cause measurable variations in the readings of a magnetic compass.
This application uses information obtained from the iPhone's compass to estimate the strength of the observed magnetic field, and then detects increases in strength that occur when the iPhone is placed near a ferromagnetic metal (like steel or iron).
* This application is presented for educational and entertainment purposes only. This is not a professional metal detector and it will only detect ferromagnetic metals (like steel or iron) when they are present in sufficient quantities.
NOTE: THIS APPLICATION REQUIRES THE USE OF A COMPASS AND IS THEREFORE ONLY COMPATIBLE WITH THE NEW IPHONE 3G S.
