Right! After all, the truly good "push" use in messaging is with instant (hence, push) messaging. I'm sure they'll realize the blooper and will get it fixed.

It's not a blooper, apple is just taking a long time getting through all the app submission. Imagine how many people want in now that push is available? Also, push could only be tested by certain developers (outside of the company) so that might also be holding some of them back. Even though aim was one of the beta tester...

The delay isn't about reviewing apps. is about getting their servers capable of handling IM pushes from 20 million users.

3 days??? Try more than 10...

Fail Notifications...Apple, even with ONE entire year, was not able to make this work properly

any ideas?
Right from the support documentation "You need to open an application at least once to get any notifications from that app."
iPhone OS 3.0: About Apple Push Notification Service

Not quite sure if the programs that have push need to be opened every time a restart of the phone is done. As usual Apple is very vague when it comes to how things work.

Updated the list. Thanks for the contributions.

With some of the questions about apps, Apple doesn't host the push. You need your own servers to handle the Push registration and such so it does take some work to have your app support push.

Be patient.

Ive done the open the app and it still does not work for text free unlimited, I contacted them this weekend about it and still no word back from them...if you look under the reviews in the app store you will see tons of people complaining that it does not work...

i think we should get a discount on our bill for putting up with the stress this has caused. haha.
