is they an app that will....

Is they an app that will keep me connected to MSN even when I return to springboard. Or while my phone is idle?

I heard they was a file you can add to BeejiveIM that does this?

Beejive stays connected on its own.

That being said, if you want to receive alerts while on the springboard or using some other app, you need to download backgrounder from cydia. This, as the name suggests, keeps applications on in the background.

Thanks for that, I will try backgrounder.

I tested my Beejive earlier, and signed in with one of my unused hotmail accounts (on beejive), and signed into a PC on my normal, and returned to springboard. After about 20mins, I went offline on Beejive.

I will try backgrounder though. Cheers

Ah, thats because beejive is set to log you off in 20 (30 maybe) minutes by default. You can change this through iphone settings menu. Under beejive/session timeout. The maximum it'll keep you logged in is 24 hours.
