orb waiting for approval from Apple

Thumbs up OrbLive app submitted to Apple !
This sounds promising. I asked Orb.com if they are releasing an official apps store version. Here is what they just said today. (see last response)

Hello, are you working on a native iphone 3g orb application installer? (non-jailbroken, downloaded via itunes store etc)

Sorry the current OrbLive version won't work on the 2.0 firmware, you'll have to wait for couple of weeks.

Hello, will you be submitting the Orb app to the Apple Apps store for official apple download? I dont want to jailbreak my iphone, but I might just to get orb working. Is it technically possible for you guys to release this as an official app through the apple apps store using the SDK guidelines etc?

We have already submitted OrbLive app to Apple and yet to hear from them.

We recommend you to periodically check our forum thread OrbLive - Orb on the iPhone for an update. Orb Community View Forum - OrbLive - Orb on the iPhone

Orb has also expressed some frustration at the length of time the approval process is taking. I'm dubious as to whether this app will ever be approved for the appstore.

Orb might wind up having to release their app through Cydia/Installer for jailbroken iPhones only.

It seems possible, check out the last few comments and app comparisons posted. (SimplyMedia,VSnax) why not orb? Is apple afraid people will stream porn or what? I don't like this mystery Apple/AT&T network deal/moral policing of apps. I do love how all apps are in one place, auto updated, but it's a steep price of freedom for all.

The apple app approval process is just ridiculous. Its amazing how much shovelware is in the appstore considering how hard it has been to become an official developer on the platform.

God only knows we need 10 different kind of unit converters, 5 discoballs and a mountain of flashlight apps...

And you can't even sort out the shovelware by reviews because of the mental defectives posting reviews that they have no business posting.

Orb and iPhone Video Recorder were the only apps holding me back from updating to 2.x
Once I heard that they both would be coming soon I finally made the transition a few days ago.
Since iPhone Video Recorder has now been made available all I need now is Orb.

Oh yeah, the transition from 1.1.4 to 2.x.......... that's another story.
