Thumbs up I know how to make vers 2.0 backup quicker on iTunes!!
right I have finally sused it,

I wanted to find out what iTunes was doing when it takes nearly 45 mins to do a bakup then sync on vers 2.0

I finally found out it is backing up all the apps you have downloaded every time you sync, which takes for ever!!

The fix, download all the apps you already have on your iPhone using iTunes, even the ones you have paid for, I promise you it will not charge you again. Once you have done that plug your iPhone in to iTunes and select sync all on the apps.

It no longer has to backup all the files as it has them on ur pc/mac and therefore does a backup in a matter of minutes!

I have tested this on 3 different iPhones and they're specific home computers and it has worked on them all!

Just remeber that if a new app comes out to remember to download it on iTunes too!!

I hope this helps you all out there, I know I'm well happy bought it!!

    Smee

I'm pretty sure this does work. I've had "Sync All Applications" checked from the beginning, and my backups are MAX 2 minutes. Definitely follow the above instructions if you are fed up with the massively long backups.

    Nice post, Smee!

Instead of getting all the apps from the iTunes store just go to File, transfer purchases form iPhone.

i think i'll just put up with it until the next itunes update. i'm sure they'll fix the issue.

i'd try to stay on top of this temporary fix... but with apps being updated via iphone, it makes it rather hard.

here's a new way i just found. it's a very simple app that simply disables backing up the applications. when you run it, you can disable them for fast backups... or run it again and re-enable them for when you do want to back them up. saves a ton of time...

Disable slow iTunes Backups for iPhone/ipod touch with a single mouseclick
