PLease help re: VNC
Evening all.
Looking for a bit of help on the VNC app.
I have downloaded tightVNC for vista windows and lightVNC for iphone 3g.
on pc:
have allowed tight vnc by the firewall and also went to the add port bit and allowed the port light vnc uses (5900 i think it was)
gave the vnc a password.
on iphone:
downloaded app
set up the 192.xxx.x.x (does this seem a bit short?)
gave it same password
restarted pc
now when i open the vnc on iphone (using 3g) and connect, i get
VNC negotiating
then "host has closed connection"
then thats it
any clues on what im doing wrong would be much appreciated,
thanks

you didnt mention it, but is tight vnc open on vista, cuz that has to be open for this to work, and i believe you need to be on wifi on the iphone. while ive gotten it to work over edge, test using first to configure the settings
edit: forgot to mention that I was using vnsea and touchpadproLast edited by avnyc11; 07-19-2008 at 01:50 PM.

Hi
I had the same problem. I realised I had the "VNC Server Port" set to 5800 when it should be 5900.
Once I changed this, i connected straight away.
hth
I am connecting to a windows XP machine, interestingly the viewer on my iphone works faster than the viewer i have on a Vista machine!!!

the IP address looks wrong. go do a search for your IP address

you can also use the computer name if you dont know the ip address.
Or go to start/windows button/ctrl+esc, type "run" followed by enter
then in the "run" window type "cmd" followed by enter
then tpye "ipconfig /all" followed by enter
and look for either "host name" and use whatever it says or the
IP address

thanks guys, i left it for about 15 mins then re-entered the ip again and it worked straight away. bizarre
just another quickie.
I was planning on using the webcam as a sort of cheap cctv for the home that i could check on using the iphone. unfortunately the video doesnt stream on the iphone and is only a snapshot of what the camera can see. i can go to refresh and it refresh's that way but again its another still.
I expect this is normal, but anyone got it streaming yet
thanks again for helping the noob
