WeDict

Just a heads up that WeDict is now available for FREE in the App Store!

(For those who don't know what it is, it's a dictionary application)

That would be great. It's better than paying $30 for the other ones.

First time I opened this on my 2G iPhone it crashed and sent me back to the launcher. After a full-reboot, I'm able to search for words but no definition is displayed on the screen. Any ideas?

I found the directory where you can add dictionaries. /private/var/mobile/Applications/9A5...
You'll find WeDict in there. That's where you dump additional dictionaries, I think. Lastly, remember to set the permissions correctly (755 works)

I downloaded some dictionaries, untar them, and got 3 files for each (.dict.dz, .idx and .ifo). However, just dropping them in the /private/var/mobile/Applications/9A5... /WeDict folder does not work.

I also noticed, the default chinese dictionary has different extentions in that folder (.dict, .idx and .idxc).

We are mising something...

Sorry guys, my wedict just crapped out today after I rebooted. I surmise it had something to do with the signature / app certification process, but I'm not entirely sure.

So I've got a few dictionaries downloaded on weDict on 1.1.4. Do you think I can copy the .dict, .idx and .idxc files to my computer and then SSH them over once I upgrade and jailbreak 2.0? Anyone know if those are the only 3 files needed to add a dictionary to weDict?

Tracsim, that is exactly what I tried to do. It worked and wedict recognized the dictionaries and i was able to search for words and read the definitions, but after a reboot, the app would only crash ...
