how is it too big? all you have to do is TOUCH THE TIP to the soder and it turns to liquid.

also Im buying a bunch of iphone headphones and skull candy ones cause I have a number of friends that want this done, if anyone is scared of doing this you can pm me and ill make you a set.

Do most people find it an easy mod? I'm a po' boy, so I can't afford to buy new Marshmallows, but I really want to do it...

Recommend it for me: Yes/no?

Just did this using the upgraded $40 apple headphones and the iphone wires+mic. Really easy to do, straight forward, I used all apple parts and it looks exactly as they did before, only with a microphone! Couldnt be happier how this turned out, thanks for the tutorial!!!

use a wrench like i did lol. itll mess up the back but it came off. maybe if you pul and twist in a wiggling motion, itll come out easy. dont use a gripping pliers. def would break the back.

I have a bunch of different headphone sets laying around and I am going to try this. What better reason do I need to visit the hardware store for a soldering iron?

Too bad the Apple headphone wires don't come in black. I might have to try replacing the rubber sleeves too.

i'm so thankul i found this before i shelled out for the skullcandy fmj's with the mic. it was way easy to do after heating the ear buds up to get them apart. my only problem was i stole my husbands headphones and he didn't tell me he had washed them so the mic doesn't work...so now i have to take them apart but its my fault i didn't check.lol

This is a very good thread. I mod my iphone earbuds regularly. This keeps my ear buds noise free and works really good. This is a tricky tips to take care of buds.
