Would this soldering iron be sufficient to complete this mod? I don't know much about wiring, but I can afford to burn out a few Marshmellows to get this trick to work. Also, is using the iron as easy as it is in the video? It looks like the guy barely touched the wires.

i was the original autobot! seen a few people with that now....

honestly, this isnt a hard mod. the hardest bit of the whole thing is taking your new headphones apart without ruining them.

Well in my defense, I liked Transformers before the new movie. I also liked Iron Man too. I'm waiting for a Green Lantern movie....
And did you have to go change your sig? :]

Back on topic:
Could someone describe how exactly soldering works? I know it melts the metal, but how do I know when or where to put the iron to make this happen?

The play/pause button and mic work fine for me... I couldn't open my sony earbuds however so I did the old fashion wire splicing method. doesn't look as perfect as the way the tutorial shows but it still looks pretty good and works GREAT.

Anyone? I kinda need to do this before Saturday... If no one replies I'll let you all know how it went...

I do have a butane powered soldering iron now though. My dad had one stashed away.

are the skull candy headphones easy to open up? hows the sound quality? i think im gonna buy another set of marshmallows an a set of skull candy headphones and do both of them to test and compare. would be nice to have a spare set.

when you do this and get ready to solder the wire back down to the actual headphone, do you have to make sure the wire is pressed up against both metal prongs?

if i confused you, there are 2 metal pieces going downward and across from eachother. when i pressed the wire up against these metal pieces, it worked. also, how in the hell am i supposed to solder the wire down if im holding the wire in place and holding the headphone itself?? lol im a rookie when it comes to soldering, sorry and thank you in advance.
