ipod accessories with iphone

im sure everyone has tryd to plug in something from there ipod into there iphone and seen the little message about the fact that its not made for it and it offers to put into airplane mode. what im wondering is:
1. Does using ipod accessories on iphones harm the phone in any way? (ex. charging with ipod charger damaging the battery)
and
2. What will putting it in airplane mode change, besides the fact that if your listening to music, it will be interupted by phone calls?

ipod chargers can work on iphone , but the power 'll drain soon .and i brought this multifunctional eccentric ,it works well on both ipod and iphone
