Using Iphone to replace car radio head unit

Anyone ditch the head unit and just use your Iphone with an amp and speakers. I need to put something in my golf cart, and rarely listen to the radio anymore. Pyle makes something for marine use that looks interesting, just need to make sure it would work with the phone (it only says Ipod).

Hoping someone out there has done this and has recommendations. I would like something that charged the phone too while connected.

That's a sweet setup. I am looking at something like this.

Called the manufacturer and they told me it would work with the Iphone as well because it gets it's info from the headphone jack. I am still skeptical. They probably don't know the differences between the Ipod and Iphone.

you can look for a radio with usb connection. best of both worlds. the ones with usb connection charge.

i have the pioneer DEH-7300BT. works great. has aux usb and radio.

not a marine radio, but it is a radio that charges.
