Well, true to their word I received a free iQ i4 ZR Folding car mount and I said that in return I would give it a review here. So here it goes!
First was the shipping, I got this mount in about 4 days and was excited to give it a try. So far I have racked up 400+ miles with this mounted to my windshield in the upper left corner of the window and overall I am very pleased with this product.
When I opened the package I received many items which included the mount, suction cup, a thing to attach to the dash if wanted, as well as a plethora of cases to use with the mount. There was a i4, 3G/S, iPod, iPod Nano and I think 2 other cases that can be used all packed up in the box as well as a catalog. Also included were 2 or 3 adhesive squares that basically lets your attach it to whatever case you are currently using and letting you use that to slide into the mount. I use an Otterbox case and dont really want the mounting square on it so I just slip it out and into the bumper cover when I use the mount.
Basically how this device works is simple there is a bumper cover design that has a mounting square on the back and it slides into the mount itself. It makes mounting and demounting an iPhone without fuss or potential damage a snap.
I also like the idea that the bumper cover has holes for the camera, as i plan on using this in conjunction with a program that will take pics at random intervals while I drive to Florida on vacation!
Whats great: Being my first car mount, I like that the mount can stick to the window or attach to the dashboard or somewhere else if I want. So far after 400 miles I have not had the phone fall out of the bumper cover(tight fitting) or the cover slipping out of the mount. Overall my iPhone seems VERY secure in the mount.
What's not so great: Precision mounting spots may be challenging. Also, you have to screw the mount down onto the suction cup instead of it being like a GPS where you latch it down. Its not a major con but it makes it harder to take on and off the windshield if you live in a high theft area.
