iPhone 4 & Bluetooth
Looking for a good BT headset for my iPhone that won't disconnect if I put the phone in my pocket. I believe it's an apple issue as my BB Torch doesn't do this "disconnect/reconnect" thing when connected.
Although it seems to be an issue with the iPhone, I was hoping there was a headset out there able to overcome this issue.
Thanks.

I have a Plantronics Discovery 975 that works wonderfully with my iPhone 4 on 4.1 and 4.2.1. I think it retails for about $130, but i found it on amazon.com for less than half of that.
Here is the link:
[ame=http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002JIMZU4]Amazon.com: Plantronics Discovery 975 Bluetooth Headset: Cell Phones & Accessories[/ame]
The only complaint that I have is that its such a tiny headset, it has a short talk time to match. It works for about 2 hours on the dot and then will shut down, but I do carry its charging case in my bag or pocket, and leave it in there if i'm not using it or expecting a call. The headset will stay connected to the phone when charging from the case, but not when charging off of the AC adapter, or when its in the case and the case is hooked to the AC adapter.
I also have a good friend who had a JawBone Icon that works well with his iPhone 4.
Hope this helps!

I've looked at the Discovery 975 a few times but never got one.
I may have been causing my own problem though. I realized that the times when I was having the worst issues with BT was when it was jailbroken. (I know most in the dev community will say there is no correlation and a jb'd device shouldn't have poor BT reception. Not arguing that point, reporting MY finding on my situation, so don't attack me just yet.)
Anyway, after having horrible BT issues, (device couldn't pair, constant disconnect if placed in my pocket, inability to reconnect w/o powering off the device), I decided to restore to stock firmware again. Same phone, same device, ZERO of the issues mentioned before. Device connects and stays connected.
Not saying they did, but do you think Apple messed with the BT stack so that it would perform poorly if jailbroken? (similar to the iBooks thing?) BT is a combination of HW and software, correct? Currently I am using a BluAnt Q2, but I have had similar issues with the Moto HX1 and the SoundID 510.
Anyway, if staying on stock firmware clears up my BT woes, I may have to do that for a bit.

Anyone find a stereo bluetooth that is comfortable on the ears? Think about the hd9s but s9 hurt my head after a while.

I have been using Plantronics BT device that I have owned for almost five years now. Only discrepancy I have is every so often I have to re-pair the device to the i-phone 4. Other than that, I don't lose connection, missed calls or any other problems discussed earlier in this thread.
One thing that I had noticed is when using skype and the BT headset w/jailbreak. When streaming the audio to the headset, it is choppy. Anyone experience this? I still can carry on a normal conversation but it is choppy.

I'm in love with these headphones:
Motorola S805 DJ Stereo Bluetooth Headset - Bluetooth Stereo Headset by N1 wireless
Have used them for over a year. They're adjustable and really comfortable. I can actually hear higher pitched sounds when riding on the noisy train.
This is the cheapest I could find them, newegg had a sale on them for $28 when I bought them.

Sorry to say but that cellphone shop found them on eBay, for $25 at 50% off. I bought 4 pairs of SD-H9's, white in color for $100 w/free shipping. What's even more absurd, is tigerdirect sells the exact same pairs for $91, last time I checked. The amount they buy, I bet they get them for around $10 a pair. Cut out the middle man, eBay has all these same BT stereo A2DP/VRCP headsets for 1/5th what u will pay. If u can wait 3 to 6 weeks. Myself, I bought 4 pairs for $100 & sold 2 pairs for $60 each. I made $20 & I have 2 free pairs. The battery capacity is not a lot, that's why I like 2 pairs.

Slightly off topic. Has anyone been able to find a Bluetooth remote control for the iPhone? I'm looking for something that has avrc capabilities.

I just ordered the Plantronics BackBeat 903+ from Amazon, the ETA is the 18th. I'll let you all know what I think of them when I have some time to test them out.

None of my previous phones have had the problem you are experiencing with your Apple phone.
I've had many different phones and Bluetooth devices and have not once experienced your problem.
I always keep my phone in my pocket and the connection is still crisp. It must be a problem with your phone. Try to hard reset it or call customer service.

I have been using skype with cydia app BTMONO which streams audio to my bt plantronics headset. Now, I have noticed when using skype and BTMONO there is a crackle sound.
Does anyone else that uses this app to stream audio and hear crackle sound? My BT headset is about 5yrs old so I wonder if that could be why and I need to update.
Please advise of your findings,
Thank You,
