    ......Or you could...just...you know...change it anyways? You can get a cheapie Torx bit set for around $5, and there you have it. I hate how everyone freaks out about "anti tamper screws" and stuff. They don't even have the "safety nipple" in the middle.
    In smaller applications like phones, Torx are more convenient. Problems arise when they are used in larger applications that require more holding strength, and more torque to break them loose. Yes, I'm talking to you, Chevy and Volvo.

    Chances are that they got a good deal on the screws. Cell phones have been using torx for a long time, Apple didn't reinvent the wheel this time.....
