Earbud noise issue when making calls on iPhone 4??

Hi.. I have a pair of Ultimate Ears 5VI and when used in conjunction with my iPhone 4 to make calls I suddenly hear all of the outside ambient noise through my earbuds. I assume this is coming from the new noise cancelation mic

Has anyone else experienced this using a pair of 3rd part buds? This is rather annoying when walking around Manhattan and Im curious if this is software or hardware related.

i have the same issue but i think the problem is the 3rd part buds
