Default Real Apple Charger VS Counterfeit Fake

It can be a tough search when looking to buy a real Apple charger online. Here is a pictorial of some of the unique features of the Real Charger.

The features of the Real Apple charger are very consistent. The Fake chargers are variable and are prone to poor function or outright failure. I am not discussing high quality Third Party chargers that look different from the Apple charger, I am talking about the Fake look-alikes.

Real label print is difficult to read, if print is clear it is Fake. Many Fakes misspell the first word (Designd) and the last word (Equipmnet) of the label. The Green Dot of the Real is right under the small box usually only a hair below. The Fake Green Dot is often farther away from the small box.

Real on left, Fake on right misspelled words "Designd" "Equipmnet"of the fake.

The Real tips of the plug prongs are very smooth, the Real stand on the prongs very easily. The Fake tips of the plug prongs are grainy, often with a linear groove at the end. Fake are often difficult to stand on prongs or won't stand. Plastic wrap, Real has 5 rows of staggered white dots, Fake has none to any number of rows of white dots.

Real on left easily stands, Fake on right this one will not stand. This Fake has 7 rows of white dots on wrapper.

The opening of the plastic back, Real has rounded corners, Fake has sharp corners. Base of USB port, Real the port base (deep in socket) is solid white plastic, Fake often has two square cut-outs in deep socket of USB port.

Real on left, Fake on right.

Metal pins of port, Real are wide and triangular shaped tips, Fake are thin with round tips.

Real on left, Fake on right.

Side of metal USB port, Real has square cut-out then thin short linear groove angling back, Fake long thin linear groove.

Real with square cut-out of metal port side.

Fake with long linear groove of metal port side.

This is probably why half of the sellers on ebay take slightly out of focus picture of their chargers

Honestly if your purchasing your charger on eBay for $2 SHIPPED you can't complain about the quality.

Hey great info thanks. I have a cheapie one that charges fine but the cable gives me errors in iTunes sometimes. Now I know
what to look for to get a "real" one.
