Does anyone have any opinions about the power mat and how well it works? I was thinking about getting one because like most people I have several things that need charging at the end of the day when I get home. So there's the usual struggle with cords and plugs and finding an outlet and making sure it's plugged in all the way, then tripping over the cords because I'm using the thing while it's charging... sigh yeesh I'm worn out just thinking about it lol. Anyways if anyone has a take on it please let me know. Does it interfere with putting a case on the phone? Does it become cumbersome in the process? Is it removable after you put it on the phone? Will Batman and Robin ever defeat the Joker? Lol (just seeing if you were paying attention.)
The thing I really don't like about the powermat is that the device has to be physically touching the powermat to charge. I like to be able to use my phone while its charging and with the powermat its nearly impossible unless you are standing over your phone huntin and pecking at the screen with your pointer fingers. Another big drawback for me is that the device has to have a special powermat case (additional $$ ontop of the actual power mat) in order to charge.
I personally love it. I spent 70 dollars for the 3 position non-foldable power mat. Included in the box is really everything you need, if you don't mind plugging a cable in, but that is NOT the point of the thing. I like the powermat charger, ($29.99)for the skin, because the cabled are GONE. The only downside is that one bar of reception seems to get lost in the air. The case is NOT compatable with skinz, otterbox, or any other case i have. NOT mophie or anyother backup battery compatable. uses a micro usb if you want to hook up to itunes, but if you are on this site, itunes is the least of your worries!)
you are back to the "normal" battery of your iphone, but the skins are not any more bulky than the "holster type" mophie juice pack. I personally have shut off the cool charging sound, because as soon as i pick the phone up, the sound brings the kids running. Not all bad, but i wanna play too!
I have the skin for the ipod touch too, and love it. There is an adapter for the headset, and it works great.
The included block is cool as the third charger. it has a cable with a mini usb plug, and adapters for (almost) everything, including the apple plug. I am gonna make my table and hollow out the table from the bottom, mount that charger "under" the table, and see what happens. I've tried putting things between the charger and the phone, and up to a certain thickness, all is fine. charging is no slower, and i am hoping that the 1/8" of wood will allow the charge. I guess I should try with other wood first before I trash a table though, huh?
