I was given my iPhone by a friend who was shipped out to Italy and wasn't able to use the phone there. He never treats his things well so there were some good scratches on the phone. I went a bought a anti-glare film screen and put it on. After putting on, I wasn't able to see many of the smaller scratches, and the deeper scratches were less noticeable.

Just an alternative to repairing/messing with the screen too much.

Why not have a screen protector in the first place? I remember a method for fixing scratched CD's where you use toothpaste and something else, can't remember where I read it. Maybe that can help?
