Hi, i purchased AV video cables so i can watch my iphone on tv...however all i get is sound...is there a setting on the phone i need to adjust to get video also....the cables have video and audio output.
thanks
I would LOVE to know if the whole Video Cable from iPhone to TV actually works (and which cable to buy). I have seen lots of reports of "only works with 2.x firmware", and "I bought the cable from the Apple Store but it don't work", and "only works for x app, but not from y app" stories.
So, my add on questions are:
1. does this work?
2. From all apps?
3. To both HD and non-HD TVs
4. Which cable for an iPHone 3GS with firmware 3.1.2?
Again, sorry for the thread hijack! But hopefully this will help answer both of our questions!
If you are upset, please let me know and I can delete my post and create a new thread.
There is only one setting for it. You should always notice the port where you are connecting to. Jacks must be used for the right port. There are no more settings.
at first I bought an aftermarket cable and it worked when I had
ver 2.8 but when I updated to 3.0 it stopped working. I had to
buy an Apple cable and it works fine on all videos and movies.
i,m still running os 3.0 I hope this helps someone i,m not to
good at posting yet
As of firmware 3.0, most aftermarket video cables does not work on any cable. The video cable will only work with video in the iPod app of the iPhone/itouch.
How to know if your cable will work?
You won't know unless you try it. If it pop up that your cable is not supported, then the cable will not work. But there are some cable that will work if you get popup blocker to disable the pop up, in my case it did not work. There is also talks about an modified file to make the pop up go away too, but everyone suggest popup blocker.
I ended up buying a real component cable from apple. Well worth the money. If you want to out put all apps to tv there is a tvout program. Search it.
