you can find plenty with a mic. but i dont think anyone sells one with controls, except for apple.
if you have the money, you should upgrade to the $80 headset. its amazing

Looking for good headphones with mic means you are looking for a device that will provide you quality sounds. The sound control that you are looking for, you might not get them in any ordinary cheap headphones. So, it is better to buy a new one from apple store. Good luck.

Klipsch S4i.
But its 100$.
NuForce NE-7M, 50$, and you have Call Control, Voice Control, and Play/Pause.
No volume buttons though.

You said "cheap". How about $2.45 with free shipping.
Earphones Headphones Earbud with Mic For iPhone 3G 3GS - eBay (item 180393882378 end time Sep-05-09 05:09:58 PDT)
I'm sure they are probably not very good quality but they are... cheap.iPhone 4/16GB

Jailbroken with Greenpois0n

If you need something reasonable but cheap, you should just stick with the apple buds. Anything cheaper will sound even worse. Trust me, I've had plenty of experience.

Lovely

If you only stepped on the earbud portion just cut them off and replace them with the buds from a headset you like.

Cutting the earbud portion might damage the whole device. It's quite risky. If if it cut in the wrong place by mistake, then it's gone.

That makes really a good sense. By this you will really find good quality headphones of original brands in Apple store. But make sure you take care of it properly.
