Why is there no Mobile GPS Antenna??
It would be so cool if I could use the GPS in my car without buying a convertible. I know we can't get turn by turn etc. but what is the point of a GPS enabled phone if you cant at least use it in your car? All that is needed is a Y-adapter from the iphones connector, one side that goes to the Cigarete lighter charger and the other to a window mounted GPS antenna strip. From what I am reading Apple has not even put a pin on the conector for GPS reception, so what good is the GPS?

I get a signal from the 2nd floor in my house. Never had a problem in car.
However, there is the odd occasion where the maps app just won't get a lock-on (will either just triangulate or not do either) and I think this is just some random bug in the system.

I can't get a pinpoint sat location, only a cell phone tower location out of mine. I have read a few articles about the 3G and GPS and people testing them said that they had to either hold the unit on there dashboard or use a convertable during testing!
From everything else I have read about GPS, I am told that it does not work indoors.
eg
"The more satellites a GPS receiver can "see," the better the accuracy. Buildings, terrain, electronic interference, or sometimes even dense foliage can block signal reception, causing position errors or possibly no position reading at all. GPS units typically will not work indoors, underwater or underground. "
