Hope this is the right place to post.
I want to buy a speaker docking system for my iphone 3g 8gig. Are the original ipod speaker systems compatibable for the iphone? Been looking in Argos, but most display the ipod. Does anyone know of a decent one to buy please? I'm in the Uk. Many thanks
I'm not sure if this is the type of thing you want... is this it?

I KNOW this works for my iPhone 3G 8Gb, because I have this speaker set.
This is a great set because it doesn't just play iPod tracks, but any sound through the iPhone! (Usefull for the Pandora app, etc.) Also it plays the Ringtone if someone calls when it's docked. It also is compatable with charging the 3G.
Hope it helps,
Ivan
EDIT:
Oh, and btw, if you don't like these speakers, check out others on http://store.apple.com/uk , at the bottom of the page it says 'Compatible with' and if it lists the iPhone 3G, then it won't give that 'Accessory Not Compatable' thing, and not charge the battery. For example, the speakers I posted ARE compatable, and it plays every sound, and charges the phone as well.
Thanks IvanPK. Very useful info. I am looking for this type your linked showed, but had hoped to buy it from a local shop tomorrow, like Argos. I know youre in the Usa, so not sure if you have an Argos? There's lots of systems in there, but not sure if they suit the iphone 3g. I'm grateful for for your informative reply Ivan
I got the Logitech Pure-Fi Anywhere 2--it is iphone compatible so you don't get that warning to put your phone in airplane mode. I live in the USA, but I did a quick search, and there are several places you can get it in the UK.

60 Watts Rms!! It's very loud and a lovely clear sound.Oh and it fully supports the iphone 3g! And you get a free blue tooth ear piece!! Very tempted to get it, but abit more than I was planning on spending. It's a good system though

I'm not sure if any of your local shops have a website, but if it's a big-name electronic store they should... I'd poke around the Apple Online Site and check out the products, I'd seen that Altic Lansing speaker set on there as well. The reviews on the Apple Store are great too, and you'll probably find one that's good.. Then when you've found a couple you like, either call/look online about the local store, and then you could buy it in person! haha.
Another thing that's a good site for iPhone/iPod accessories is iLounge... Sort Reviews & Accessories by Rating | iLounge
Here's a link to their top rated Speaker Systems that are made for the iPhone.
Once again, these will all work with the iPhone. Look at their top rated speaker sets, read the reviews, and you could find some that you really like. Then just call the shop and see if they have them.
You're a Star IvanPk!! Thank you. You've gave me an idea, as where I work, theres an Apple store so be worth a look in there too
That link you supplied has been bookmarked. I see they got the JBL system on there too. I saw and listened to that too, very nice sound, bass was impressive. Would been my second choice so far. I will do the reviews, then if I do buy a dearer one, I'll know it'll be money well spent! Thanks again mate.....too kind
Try the B&W (bower wilkin) ,it 's a little expensive, $600.00 US but it worth . Made from England, works for all (ipod ,2G & 3GiPhone). I got it from Myer
amco (local store) USA.
Wow Romo, way too much for me, Bet it does sound good though.
You know it does make me think....why are they so expensive to buy?? I mean all it is really is a speaker and an amp!
if you're still looking for a dock, i recently got the JVC NXPN7 iPod/iPhone dock/clock radio. it has it's flaws but it was only $89 at wal-mart. i needed a duel dock for my iPhone and my fiancé's iPhone and it works well. the clock part of it sucks imo, but who needs it when you have you're iPhone hooked up to it anyway. when you get calls on it, the ringtone comes from the speaker too which is nice, but other then that it's average.
