iPhone with exterior (car) antenna

I use iPhone remote and private DNS server to get to my mac at home usually via edge to listen to my music in the car and I was wondering if there is a way to use your cars intenna to pick up stronger signals so I don't have to wait when streaming my music files on iPhone via edge has anyone ever heard of doing such a thing? It seems plausible but I have never heard of anyone actually doing it. Can anyone shed some light on the subject? Many thanks
