iphone connection problem with car stereo deck

hi all,

I recently installed a JVC KD-APD58\KD-PDR50 into my car. It comes with a connection cable for the ipod. However,my deck does not read my iphone even though its connected to the deck. Is there something I'm not doing.

Alot of ipod cables are not compatible with the iphone, especially the 3g. Try an actual ipod if you have access to one, if it works...you know for sure its not compatible.

But why isn't it compatible? What's different?

I could understand if it played music but wouldn't charge (because the charing circuitry is different in the iPhone), but why can't it play music?

I feel you pain, I bough a jenson cable to connect mine and it said it worked for ipod and iphones, it gives me the turn to airplane mode thing, but wont play music, I was dissapointed. I wish there was some sort of fix.
