ipod 4th gen fm transmitter and home dock station help

just got the wife the new 4th gen ipod and out JBL dock wont charge. neither will my iphone 3g. i am looking to get her an fm transmitter for her car and possibly a new dock for the house.
what i want for her car is plug going from cig lighter to ipod. it has to charge and play at the same time. not looking to spend alot here. i see them all over the web for 20-30 bucks. how many of them are REALLY compadiable? i dont know. not 1/2 i would assume.

is there something we could get for the JBL dock that would let us charge and play at the same time? i know the newer apple items (iphone 3g, 4th gen ipod and more) are able to play but not charge. there has to e a fix for this or something we can do to change this. is there? is there something cheap to use as a middle man to let charge?

any and all help given about the fm transmitter for her car and our home dock issue is greatly appreciated!!!

Well, basically you just have to have something that is compatibly with the newer devices because Apple changed "things" on the dock side with respect to charging.

As far as FM transmitters, there's alot of em out....kinda depends on what your looking for. Kensington and Griffin make good ones, as do several other companies.

The iPhone 3G, iPod Nano 4th Gen and iPod Touch 2nd Gen all require their own set of accessories. I had to buy a whole new set of iPhone 3G accessories when I upgraded from my original iPhone. Yea I don't know why Apple did this but hey it must have boosted accessory sales for them!
