Getting an iPhone 3G. Have never had an iPhone or iPhone 3G. What do I need to get to protect it? Any other help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Hmm, nope. You're good to go, just get a nice solid casing and a screen protector.

Doesn't matter. Who cares if it gets a scratch or two. It's only a phone

It all depends on what you wnat to protect it against. I recommend a screen protector film- personally I like the crystal ones. They show a few more fingerprints but when applied correctly, they look like the bare glass. How will you carry teh iphone? If you want to clip it on your belt or somewhere, Get a pouch. I have a Marware leather pouch wiht a clip. I love it. Easy to slide the phone in and out when needed. Some people lik eot keep th eiphone in their pocket. Personally I dont recommend this as the few times I have tdione that I had some weird random reboots. The iPhone processor does not like heat. A cargo pocket might be OK, but dont put it in your back pocket (I know people will say they do this and have no issues) Ive also had the iPhone fall out of pockets so at least for me its not a safe place. If you do keep it in your pocket or loose in a bag (backpack, purse, etc...) you might consider a silicone sleeve. If you like the natural look of the iphone and really want to keep it free from scratches, you might try invisible skin. i saw them applied at a kiosk in teh mall outside the Apple store. They are interesting but I didt feel it was needed.

I use several cases depending on how often I get bored with one or the other. There are a gazillion different styles available and it just depends on your taste. I would definitely get one though just to keep the phone in mint condition in case you wan to resell it when another phone comes along.

I would also go with a screen protector. They say that the screen is scratch resistant, but you know how that can go. I got a 5 pack at Bestbuy for the price most companies charge for a single one and it has been flawless.

The only case I have that I would stay VERY clear of is the iWood series made by Miniot. Run Forest, run!

Thanks everyone. The invisible skin sounds interesting. Not sure I want to try to put i on though . There are a few cases I have been looking at that I have read about on here. Think I am gonna get one and a film for the screen. Glad I found this site.
