Default Anyone else using the Ultimate Ears Super.fi 4vi?

Well last night I went out to get new headphones since the original ones that came with the iphone died on me after less than 1 week of usage. I was going to just mod those so earlier in the day I picked up some Sony headphones that looked a bit easier to open up. Well needless to say, with this problem I decided I will just keep my new replacement ones in case something happens as I cannot seem to live without the Push Talk button.

I called the Apple store on 5th Ave NY in search of the V moda headphones that seem to be sold out at every other store. Well needless to say, they claimed to have "enough for even tomorrow". Well I head over there a bit later since its a 24 hour store (3am since I was in the city anyways not having the push button aggravated me to no end).

I get there, and the sales rep tells me they sold out, and they dont know when they will get anymore.

Well end of my rant, I saw a set of ultimate Ears Super.Fi4vi. It also comes with the push button and hands free microphone which sold me. Even at the 150 dollar price tag, which isn't that bad (160 after tax).

Here is a link since most Apple stores might not have them. The sales rep had never even seen it, and I was the first one to get them.

I love them to death, but it seems that the left side sound a bit quieter than the right? Maybe it is just me, but I will probably go exchange it in a few days.

I too had a pair of Vmoda and yeah they are great but mine crapped out in the 2nd week. Great sound, so so quality. Picked up a pair of 4vi today, my apple store only had three sets. I tell you what, yeah they are pricey, but the sound is out of this world. I also like the way they have for you to switch between calls and music and they also have the ability to do the same with video. Do not know if the buds or Vmoda can do that as well. They fit nice and sound nice. Draw back is that there is not a lot written on these things but I researched what I could and found nothing negative other than the price. I could not even find these on the UE website, but I am very pleased. I talked to 4 apple store reps and no one even knew they had them, I had to explain to them what they did and yes they do work with the iphone. Sad really...but anyway....Keep in mind these are excellent sound quality and you do get some base but not like the Vmoda's. But over all quailty is 100 times better than Vmoda. IMHO

Are the Ultimateears really available in Apple's stores? I asked a guy at the 5th Avenue store in NYC and he said no - they're not on display either.

You got them at an Apple Store?

Update: I also wrote to both Soho and 5th Ave Stores and they both replied that they don't have them and have no idea if and when they will carry them. So I guess online is the only way at this point.

    Default Ultimate Ears Super.fi 3 upgradable ?

    Hi,

I've got a pair of UE Super.fi 3, superb headphones for the money for my 5.5G Ipod.

Now that I have an Iphone which I now use to listen to my music, do you know whether it's possible for my UE Super.fi 3s to be upgraded with a mic/remote from Ultimate Ears? Fact that the earphones itself are removable ?

    Cheers

That is strange since I brought them specifically at the 5th Ave Store. They do not have many of them. When I first went, those idiots told me they had the Vmoda's in stock, however they did not. I looked next to the V Moda, and saw the Ultimate Ears. I just returned mine and got a new pair since the left side started going dead.

Honestly the sound quality but the build quality is pretty lacking. The second pair I just got has the rubber on the call button loose. It isn't a hard fix, however when I pay nearly 162 after tax for an item, I really expect it to be perfect. Maybe it is a 1 out of 1 million chance I got two that weren't perfect, but it is still a bit annoying.

I am 100% sure they have it, sometimes the phone service isn't as accurate as going there yourself. The new pair I got through my exchange was the last ones they happened to have "in the back". When I called they didn't have any, but my friend who happens to work there found a set laying in the back for me.

As far as the 11/30 release date, I got mine on the 16th of November, then exchanged for the second set on the 28th.

I ordered a pair from amazon instead. Not sure how I feel about them. I like the style and small mic, but the call button is ridiculously stiff and needs very swift double clicking to move to the next song - otherwise it just registers as a pause. Also, sound-wise, they are lacking in bass compared to the v-moda. I can't decide if they have more crisp/clear sound than the v-moda, but my preference is v-moda and when I compare them right after each other, the v-moda comes across as having much richer sound.

    Hmm...worth $150? I don't think so.

Words of advise, stick with stock... Earphones are addictive, once you tried them, there's no turning back... I started with Shure E4c and now I'm on Shure SE530, I just wish I'm as rich as the friend that got me into this mess...

    Default Disapointed

I've just got some stereo.fi 4vi guess i was suckered in by how nice they look. I'm not pleased one bit, the sounds amazing if you want to listen to accoustic stuff all the time (which i dont)...the bass is so delicate that its almost missable.

Shame cause i cant take them back now i've opened them

I have tried them. they are very good but not excellent. Definitely 100% improvement comparing apple ones. As it was mentioned above there is lack of bass for sure /maybe equalizer can little help/.
If someone want them this site http://www.soundearphones.com/ has them for $125 shipping free.
I personally would go for Shure SE110 or SE210. and now shure offers Music phone adapter what brings you microphone .

Odd, the Super.fi headphones list a response range of 20 hz to 15khz, whereas the Vmodas claim 15hz to 22 khz.

Normal human hearing range is often quoted to be 20hz to 20khz... so the Super.fi's *should* be underpowered in the high treble department...
