    Default extend auto lock
    Hello,
    Is there a way to extended the password security auto lock beyond 5 minutes?
    I need to secure my device (lesson learned the hard way) since I got a device stolen but I hate having to enter my code (not simple 4).
    If there is a app that would allow me to gesture bypassing the character input when home, but not replace the character entry when I need the extra security.

    I liked the idea of Auto protect when I am home but my email gets that no message content so I'm waiting on a fix or update hopefully.

    Thanks

    Yes, this is very possible. Be warned that it causes slightly more battery drain though, this is why Apple had originally set the autolock times pretty low. But here's how:

    1. In iFile, navigate to /Applications/Preferences.app/General.plist

    2. Find the these values:

    Code:
    <array>
                    <string>1_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>2_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>3_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>4_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>5_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>NEVER</string>
                </array>
                <key>validValues</key>
                <array>
                    <integer>60</integer>
                    <integer>120</integer>
                    <integer>180</integer>
                    <integer>240</integer>
                    <integer>300</integer>
                    <integer>-1</integer>
    4. Change these values to the values you want. The <key>validValues</key> area must be done in seconds. An example of this would be:

    Code:
    <string>1_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>20_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>3_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>4_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>5_MINUTES</string>
                    <string>NEVER</string>
                </array>
                <key>validValues</key>
                <array>
                    <integer>1200</integer>
                    <integer>120</integer>
                    <integer>180</integer>
                    <integer>240</integer>
                    <integer>300</integer>
                    <integer>-1</integer>
    They line up exact to the other values. So if you decide to change the top value, you change the seconds value on the other validValues portion of it. Again, the validValues part is in SECONDS, not minutes. The top part is in MINUTES, not seconds.

    This should fix it.

    OK and if I want to set it for 15 minutes it would be:
    15 minutes, 900 seconds

    I was thinking of setting it up as 5 minutes, 10 minutes, 20 minutes.

    Can I add lines like this, and is this correct?

    <string>1_MINUTES</string>
    <string>2_MINUTES</string>
    <string>3_MINUTES</string>
    <string>4_MINUTES</string>
    <string>5_MINUTES</string>
    <string>10_MINUTES</string>
    <string>15_MINUTES</string>
    <string>20_MINUTES</string>

    <string>NEVER</string>
    </array>
    <key>validValues</key>
    <array>
    <integer>60</integer>
    <integer>120</integer>
    <integer>180</integer>
    <integer>240</integer>
    <integer>300</integer>
    <integer>600</integer>
    <integer>900</integer>
    <integer>1200</integer>

    <integer>-1</integer>

    Thanks

    Tried this and the 10 minute did not show in the lockout times were still 1-5 minutes, and NEVER.

    I also then tried to delete the 1 minutes / 60 seconds lines thinking that maybe the script was limited to 6 lines but it didn't change anything.

    I did respring as well as reboot my device (iPh4s CDMA iOS 5.1.1)

    Thanks

    I managed to get it to work, but for some reason, the labels do not work. Other people have the same exact issue. So apparently Apple has patched this a bit. Your labels will never be correct, so you'll have to use one of the existing values in there and do that. From there, whatever value used to be there, you'll just select the option in settings and it should work, it's very odd but I can confirm that it does work.

    So if I decided to change value 1 and 1 in the .plist, I would select 1 minute in settings (I know this sounds odd) but believe it or not it works.

    So do I change the # minutes or just the seconds in the .plist?

    Hi, try CleverPin, it is very similar to AutoProtect and works fine on my iOS5.0.1 iPhone 4. Note, CleverPin does not work with the CameraLock tweak, I had to use Camera Grabber for iOS5.0.x instead.

    Change 'em both just to be sure. After that just select the button it used to be and it should hopefully work.

    To change the labels I'd probably have to get into the SpringBoard strings and other crap.

    CleverPin doesn't work on my device and when I get it to I get the no content message emails.

    I get that with AutoProtect to but sometimes it'll work.

    Thanks
