There's loads of great music production apps available on AppStore, all of which require .wav format samples. To have a fully mobile music work station one needs to be able to convert audio to different file types on the iOS device itself.
On Ubuntu I have used the mplayer command line tools to encode/decode audio files but to my disappointment the iOS port of mplayer does not seem to come with these (in fact it does not lauch on iOS4).
Would it be possible to port these terminal commands to iOS? If so, could someone please point me in the right direction as to how to achieve this? I am willing to work on this myself if necessary but after over 4 hours of Googling I'm none the wiser.
