There was a package called "Clear" available through the touch mania source that got rid of all of the icons, folders included, on the springboard and left ONLY the words. The icons weren't transparent, they were completely gone and you had a clear view of your wallpaper. Ever since updating to 4.2.1 the touch mania source will not install and thus I can't find the Clear package anywhere! Please help me figure out a way to either add the touch mania source OR create a way to get rid of all of the icons myself. This was one of my most valued tweaks, there's nothing more annoying to me than a bunch of big ugly bulky icons covering up my beautiful background. I have 3GS running 4.2.1 btw.
