want to snap back to homescreen automatically

So I'm looking for a way to make the phone automatically go back to the homescreen when looking through my pages of apps.

For example, if I leave it on any one of my app pages for 5 seconds without doing anything I want it to go back to homescreen.
Also when locking the phone on one of the app pages, when I unlock I'd like it to go to the homescreen rather than back to the page I was on.

sorry if this sounds confusing, there has to be a(simple) way to do this but I'm having a hard time searching for it.
