Compact Springboard Icons Automatically?

I have been looking for an app (something that runs in the background) that will simply compress my springboard so that I never have any free spaces between applications. I just hate having (for example) 5 pages of apps when they can all be moved to be in only 3. I don't care so much for the actual organization of them, I just want them compressed together so that the pages are filled, leaving no blank spaces. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

I assume you have tried pressing the icon till they wiggle, and then move them to a location or page right?

Try Five Column Springboard, FiveIRows and Five Icon Dock (or better, InfiniDock), this will provide you with 30 apps per page, instead of 20.
