Australian Version of TextFree, TextNow ect..

To all devs,

Im looking for an Australian equivilent to TextFree, TextNow ect... It would save me so much money as i send easily 450+ texts a day ( I am on Telstra 1 cent messaging but still )

are you jailbroken? there are some SMS apps that offer cheaper SMS too..(I think BiteSMS & QuickreplySMS - I think these are the names of them - but you can check the forum here for more info on those kinds of apps?)

If you use Skype & have skype credit - you can use that to send SMS too. I can send SMS overseas to a friend for AU$0.084c

But 450+ SMS a day? That is a serious amount of SMS a month - like 13,000??
Is there no plan out there that has unlimited SMS option - it might pay to look at another plan?

I am jailbroken, and my carrier offers me Unlimited one cents text but that is still $4.50 a day that is why I am looking for free because i would save so much money..

I dont think you are going to find anything that will offer free SMS, but you could get them @ a cheaper price than 1c (although you get this covered by your credit on plan).

Can I ask why so many SMS a day? Wouldnt it be easier to send msg another way? Like using IM etc?

and sure you can ask (: I am pretty close to ALWAYS texting... before school, afterschool, during school to my girlfriend just general chat (~300+ messages )

texting mates after school organizing stuff(~150 messages )

and the thing that would be awesome on a free app is that not everyone im talking to needs to be in a wifi zone...

ok then - that is a lot of msg :P

I would suggest that using IM would be a lot cheaper and you could chat to everyone at the same time, and wouldnt pay 1c for every msg you send - it would just be cost of 3G data on your data plan, or free if on Wifi.

yeah I know SMS can be easier at times - I am just thinking if you can get at least your gf onto IM and msg her that way - it might save you a few hundred SMS a day, and it could be cheaper for data cost than SMS cost (even better if you are on Wifi and not using 3G data)
