Use numpad as keyboard for Sms on 3.0+ ?

Hey.. Does anyone know of anyway I can simply use the numpad used for dialing numbers instead of the full keyboard? I often am in class and need to send a quick text, and I am used to not looking at my phone texting.. Until I got this iPhone that is.

I have heard of multitap from Cydia, but it doesn't work on 3.0+ and changing it to latin ABC is a pain in the *** as it is not predictive.

Anyone know of a solution? Uses the same predictive system as the keyboard, only with the numberpad instead of letters..

theres an app in the app store , Big Finger Keyboard , its the closest i can see us getting to it , unless multitap is updated.

But howcome it is so difficult for developers to just change the default keypad to the numpad one? For instance, I have an app called eirtext pro which uses the numpad with letters to either type numbers or a contact name, but for the actual text you have to use the keypad.. Cannot be impossible

Not even the same numpad as the one used if u unlock your ipod and have to enter a password?

whats the site for the multitap author? maybe someone can ask him to update it or get the source code from him and a dev here could fix it up?
