Remove Search

The feature I want and haven't found anywhere is the option to remove search.
It's annoying when you press home and the search slides over. I never use search so its a useless feature for me and I would love to have it gone. I liked pre 3.0 firmware (Was it 3.0 when search was included?)

Are there any apps that already remove the search?

I use it all the time. It is actually faster to use search than to open the phoneor contacts app to call someone. Also very fast way to get to seldom used programs.
But, to answer your question, No, they aren't any programs TIKO that can remove search.

I don't want it to pop up when I click the home button.

Sorry, you're only the 2nd member(somebody else posted about this)out of 500,000 on modmyi that wants this app, so somebody probably hasn't made it yet.

your poll indicates whether people use it, not whether they think its annoying and want it removed

the search function is more useful if you buy universal search from cydia

i use search but i wish that it wasnt there because spotlight in cydia is much much better

yeah ive hidden a lot of my apps and i only access them through spotlight now...works very nice and done have pages and pages of apps.

I think it's pontless maybe I would like it better if when u clicked a contact it actually called them rather than opening up the contact screen.

I use categories sb to only have one sb page and it's plenty fast for finding my apps.

It is useless on my phone. If I need to call someone then I will open the phone app and dial the number or find the contact. The extra three seconds it takes doesn't bother me.

you could use spotbright, it adds so many useful features search should have had in the first place. lol

I for one also wish you could disable this, I am bothered by accidental double home taps and the window coming up regardless as to how I have my home button behavior set.

I install spotbright and find it really useful to be able to launch hidden application, and launch any of the most recently used 6 programs. I also use it to retrieve emails that I've deleted but now want to see it again. Sometimes I use it to launch music quickly.

Can a dev look into it and make an addon to remove the search function for us? Shouldn't bee too hard. When on the first screen have it that when you press home again it does nothing instead of opening search.

You're right. So Spotbright's only function is to show the recently used program then.

In anycase, the search is still needed to launch hidden applications. Is there any other way of launching them if we remove the search?

How much would it be worth it to you? Would you buy a search removal mod from the cydia store?
