This mod is part of the running services and would have to be patched out of the ispw or with a patch that runs on startup
it would take a lot of development

Install "Activator" and set your phone to do something else with a single tap of the home button. A single tap of mine opens ProSwitcher. I never used to use Spotlight until very recently because I found something called SpotSMS that allows Spotlight to search through text message conversations. Very useful.

I would buy a mod for this from cydia, but I'd rather know how to ssh in and delete it myself
I never use it, tho not anoyed by it I love to remove things I don't use, the more I remove, the happier my phone gets

@stfudvs Absolutely agree. The 3GS is fast already, but it can get blazingly fast if you disable/remove enough things.
Someone out there please show us the way!

I would pay to remove search
My daughter uses my iPod Touch exclusively now and I would pay money, 1 to 3 bucks to be able to disable/enable the search at will. I wouldn't want it to show up when sliding <- and I wouldn't want it to show up when single clicking the menu button.
I think other people who like to use these devices to educate and entertain their kids would be interested as well.

A nospot sbsettings is impossible I think, it needs a respring as it's built into springboard
