Push Mail Pop Up Notification

I would like to see a notification similar to or the same as text messaging that provides a short summary of incoming email (from, subject and/or the first sentence or so), with the ability to turn it on/off and also read or ignore the message on the screen. I already have push email on the iPhone, but it only badges the mail app.
