I can't speak for anyone else but I followed these instructions followed by installation of a carrier specific MobileConfig.
Whilst i've never heard of anyone being charged by their carrier, it is against your contract AFAIK so in theory they could charge you. I'd advise using common sense - for example, when I use tethering I tend to avoid doing any high bandwidth things such as streaming videos etc and keep it to light browsing onlyLast edited by ScottishDan; 12-09-2009 at 09:52 AM.

There's one out in Cydia(BigBoss repo I think) now!

Yup. I just downloaded it today. I'm on a 3gs 3.1.2 and it works and all, but there's a little bug I'm getting. When i toggle tethering to on, hide sbsettings, then unhide it, the toggle for tethering will be "off" when its actually on. A respring fixes the glitch or whatever though.

Yes, I from the beta version to the released version, the "Commands" used to turn on/off tethering were changed and I forgot to get them to do one thing that was needed to get the isFastEnabled() function to work.
I've just submited version 1.0.1 to fix it. Should be live in a few.

Do you have to have internet tethering already on it for it to work?

Apparently it does enable the tethering option also but I cant confirm that because I already had that option working..

Ya I'd hate to turn it on just to get a huge bill at the end of the month.
