Is there another option? Because I don't scroll to the left often but that worthless search option pops up TOO much! Please tell me by now there is a hack to disable it?

Downgrade from 3.0 until apple decides to disable it. Nobody seems to want to get rid of it so there may never be an app for disabling it

It's funny that QuickGold was one of the most popular jailbroken apps for the iPhone because of it's global search functionality and one of the top reasons to jailbreak. Now that it's an integrated feature of the OS people want it gone. Ironic.
