Request: Airtunes
It seems like this would be possible/relatively easy (?).
It would be awesome to stream music from the iPhone directly to the stereo via the Airport Express and Air Tunes. Doesn't seem out of the question since the iphone connects to the express with wifi.
is there a way to pinpoint and extract the airtunes functionality in itunes?
sure would be awesome.

That is a KILLER idea... One that might make me get the airtunes router to replace my current one...
That would be way nicer than using - iphone as an iTunes remote control for my imac, streaming to my xbox 360 using connect 360 to play through my surround sound / outdoor speakers...
Hopefully it wouldn't kill the battery, but the ipod part of the iphone is great when it comes it battery life...

OK, bringing this one back:
After installing the firefly media server ( http://modmyi.com/forums/showthread.php?t=12259 ), the iphone now shows up in itunes and can wirelessly stream music from the ipod>to itunes >to the Airport.
Using VNSea you can control itunes on your computer and play the songs from your phone.
The only problem is that you can't type in the password for the firefly server from the iphone in VNSea yet, but if you have it saved in your computers keychain, no problem.
Kind of a crazy way to do it and it doesn't cut out the need for a computer, (a computer that probably has your music on it already) but pretty cool none-the-less.
