Untethered song deletion app

I don't care if it's in the Music browser itself, or as a separate app, but I personally would love to have the ability to delete songs when on the road. Apple obviously opted out of this because they wanted iTunes to manage the iPod, but I personally think this is a severe limitation in regards to portability. Why give us such an amazing device and gimp it so badly?
The only real roadblock I can see to this is trying to decode the song info database... so as to figure out which song needs to be deleted.
Any thoughts? Possible/not? I can't forsee apple doing this anytime soon.
